The Internet

My 6th grade keyboarding teacher once wheeled a television and VCR into our classroom and showed us a video about the Internet and all of its “amazing” possibilities. In it, a pregnant woman and her husband looked at cribs on a computer, comparing models. Through the magic of film, time lapsed and a delivery man hefted the crib to the doorstep of the soon-to-be parents.

“Pfffft!” I thought. “Who are they telling in the computer to send this crib? How do they pay for it? This can’t work.”

Flash forward about 18 years and in real life I am ordering just about every single thing for my unborn child via the Internet.
